Transfer from Barcelona to Zaragoza: route, journey time and vehicles

Zaragoza is about 305 km from Barcelona. Your chauffeur leaves on the B-23, follows the AP-7 for a short stretch and joins the AP-2 near El Vendrell. The AP-2 runs past Montblanc and Lleida and across the Monegros plain, and for the last few kilometres the A-2 brings you into Zaragoza from the east. Without stops the drive takes about three hours. The AP-2 has been toll-free since September 2021. The alternative is the A-2 through Igualada, Cervera and Lleida, also free, which your chauffeur takes if an accident or roadworks block the AP-2.

By train, the AVE stops at Zaragoza-Delicias, west of the centre, and gets there much faster than the road; check timetables on renfe.com. If you are travelling alone to a meeting near the station, the train is the practical choice. A private driver pays off when several of you travel together, when you carry samples, trade-fair material or large suitcases, when the meeting is at the PLAZA logistics park, the Feria de Zaragoza exhibition centre or an industrial estate on the outskirts, or when you want a same-day return without watching timetables.

For a same-day return you can book the hourly service: you leave Barcelona early, your chauffeur drives you between meetings in Zaragoza and waits in between, and you head back in the afternoon. Leave at 7 am and you can be in Zaragoza by about 10. If a meeting runs over, your chauffeur keeps waiting and the extra hours are added to the booking.

Many central hotels lie around the Paseo de la Independencia, the Plaza de España and the Plaza del Pilar. The last of these holds both the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar and La Seo Cathedral, a short walk from the Puente de Piedra over the Ebro. The Aljafería Palace is a few minutes away by car, and the Expo 2008 site sits in the Ranillas meander. During the Fiestas del Pilar, in the week of 12 October, the centre fills up and some streets close; we drop you at the nearest accessible point to your hotel.

If you have time, Poblet Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a few minutes off the AP-2 near Montblanc and makes a good stop on the way out or back. Tell us when you ask for a quote how long you would like to spend there.

For one or two people on business, the Mercedes E-Class or S-Class, with space in the back to prepare for the meeting. The V-Class seats seven passengers with seven suitcases. For exhibitor teams or wedding guests, a minibus with 8 to 19 seats or a coach with 20 to 55. We also drive from Zaragoza to Barcelona or to El Prat Airport.

FAQ

Transfer to Zaragoza: frequently asked questions

Can we go to Zaragoza and back in one day?

Yes. Each way takes about three hours. With the hourly service your chauffeur waits for you in Zaragoza, drives you between meetings and brings you back to Barcelona when you are done. We suggest timings based on your schedule.

Is the high-speed train or a private driver better for Zaragoza?

For one person heading to a meeting near Delicias station, the AVE is faster. A private driver is better when several of you travel, you carry equipment, the destination is at PLAZA, the Feria or an industrial estate, or you want to go and return on your own timetable.

Can you take us to the Feria de Zaragoza exhibition centre?

Yes. The exhibition centre sits beside the A-2 on the Madrid side of Zaragoza, and we drop you at the entrance the organisers give you. If your team is bringing stand material, tell us what you are carrying and we recommend the right vehicle.

What should we know about travelling during the Fiestas del Pilar?

In the week of 12 October some central streets close and hotels fill up. Book early; we drop you at the nearest open point to your accommodation and your chauffeur helps with the luggage.

Where will my chauffeur meet me?

At the pick-up point agreed when you book. Your chauffeur lets you know when the car arrives. We include 15 minutes of courtesy waiting from the agreed pick-up time. We charge for extra waiting.

How much does the transfer from Barcelona to Zaragoza cost?

It depends on the vehicle, the date and the time. We send you a fixed price before the trip, with tolls and luggage included, and a quote needs no prepayment. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up.

How long does the transfer from Barcelona to Zaragoza take?

The journey covers about 305 km and takes roughly 3 h without traffic. Rush hour and high season add time, so allow for this when you choose your pick-up time if you have a flight or sailing to catch.
