Transfer from Barcelona to Valencia: route, journey time and vehicles

Valencia is about 350 km from central Barcelona. Your chauffeur usually leaves on the Ronda Litoral and the C-32, which runs through tunnels under the Garraf hills, and joins the AP-7 heading south. The motorway skirts Tarragona, crosses the Ebro near Amposta, continues past Benicarló and Castellón and enters Valencia from the north on the V-21. Without stops the drive takes about three and a half hours. The AP-7 between Tarragona and Valencia has been toll-free since 2020, and the tolls leaving Barcelona are included in your fixed price.

Since the AP-7 became free it carries more traffic, including plenty of lorries. On Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and summer weekends in July and August an early start helps, and we suggest a departure time to suit the day. If the C-32 is congested, your chauffeur can leave Barcelona on the B-23 and join the AP-7 at Martorell. We settle the route before you set off, based on live traffic.

By train, Euromed services link Barcelona-Sants and Valencia-Joaquín Sorolla; check timetables on renfe.com. If you are travelling alone or as a couple, with light luggage and from station to station, the train is usually quicker and cheaper. A private driver makes more sense in other cases: a family or a group of five or six with suitcases, a start from your home or from El Prat without going through Sants, a destination away from the station such as Malvarrosa beach, Cullera or Gandia, or a trip with stops along the way.

In Valencia we drop you at the door of your hotel or any address you give us. The old town, Ciutat Vella, holds the cathedral, the Silk Exchange (Lonja de la Seda) and the Central Market. Ruzafa, just south of the centre, is full of restaurants and holiday flats, and the City of Arts and Sciences fills the far end of the Turia Gardens. If you are catching a ferry to the Balearic Islands from the port of Valencia, or a flight from Valencia Airport at Manises, west of the city, we take you straight to the terminal. During the Fallas festival, from 15 to 19 March, many central streets close and we drop you at the nearest accessible point.

Stops extend the journey beyond the usual three and a half hours without traffic. The Ebro Delta is a few minutes off the AP-7. Peñíscola, with its castle on a rock above the sea, is near the Benicarló exit. Tell us where you want to stop and for how long when you book. We include agreed stops in the quote.

For two or three people with three suitcases, the Mercedes E-Class. On a business trip where you want more room in the back, the S-Class. The V-Class seats seven passengers with seven suitcases, and for teams or wedding guests we run minibuses with 8 to 19 seats and coaches with 20 to 55. We also drive the return leg, from Valencia to Barcelona or to El Prat Airport.

FAQ

Transfer to Valencia: frequently asked questions

Should I take the train or a private driver to Valencia?

For one or two people with light luggage going from station to station, the train. With children, large suitcases or a group of five or more, a private driver saves you the rides to Sants and from Joaquín Sorolla, and you travel in one vehicle from your door to the hotel's.

Can we stop at the Ebro Delta or in Peñíscola?

Yes. When you ask for a quote, tell us where you want to stop and for how long, and we build it into the fixed price. A short break at a service area needs no notice: your chauffeur stops whenever you ask.

Can you take us to Valencia's port or airport?

Yes, to the ferry terminal at the port or to the airport at Manises. If you have a sailing or a flight to catch, tell us the departure time and we set the Barcelona pick-up with a margin for traffic on the AP-7.

Can you reach central Valencia during the Fallas?

Yes, although from 15 to 19 March many central streets are closed to traffic. We drop you at the nearest open point to your hotel and your chauffeur helps you unload the luggage. Book early for those dates.

Where will my chauffeur meet me?

At the pick-up point agreed when you book. Your chauffeur lets you know when the car arrives. We include 15 minutes of courtesy waiting from the agreed pick-up time. We charge for extra waiting.

How much does the transfer from Barcelona to Valencia cost?

It depends on the vehicle, the date and the time. We send you a fixed price before the trip, with tolls and luggage included, and a quote needs no prepayment. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up.

How long does the transfer from Barcelona to Valencia take?

The journey covers about 350 km and takes roughly 3 h 30 min without traffic. Rush hour and high season add time, so allow for this when you choose your pick-up time if you have a flight or sailing to catch.
