Barcelona shore excursions with your own private driver
Your ship docks in Barcelona and you have a few hours ashore. A private driver meets you at the terminal and takes you to the places you choose. We plan the return with time before your ship’s boarding deadline.
How a port day with a private driver works
When you book, tell us the ship's name, the date of the call, the docking time and the all-aboard time your cruise line gives you. From the ship's name we confirm which terminal on the Adossat Wharf or the Barcelona Wharf you will use.
Your driver meets you at the terminal exit with a name sign. Free waiting covers 30 min from the agreed pick-up time. Longer waits cost extra. During the booked hours, your driver waits at every stop. Call your driver when you want to continue.
All-aboard time sets the plan
Your cruise line sets the all-aboard time and usually prints it in the ship's daily programme. We plan the day backwards from that time, with room for traffic on the Ronda Litoral, the coastal ring road that links the city to the port, and for the security check at the terminal.
If a visit runs long, your driver tells you when to leave for the planned return. Carry your ship card. Carry the photo identification your cruise line requires for boarding.
Example schedule: your ship docks at 7:00 and boarding ends at 17:30. We plan pick-up at 8:30. Your tickets show 9:15 for the Sagrada Família and 12:00 for Park Güell. You have lunch in Gràcia. We plan a terminal return around 15:30. Traffic and visit times can change this schedule.
What fits into a Barcelona port call
The Sagrada Família is about 8 km from the Adossat Wharf terminals. Park Güell is about 10 km away. In normal traffic, the drive usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Buy timed entry tickets on sagradafamilia.org and parkguell.barcelona before travel. We plan pick-up around your ticket times. Agree the pick-up point with your driver before each visit.
With a long day in port you can leave the city. Montserrat is about 62 km away, a little over an hour each way, and the car drives right up to the monastery. Sitges is about 42 km, around 45 minutes on the C-32. Girona, about 105 km away, only fits a very long port call.
If you would rather stay in town, a loop through Montjuïc, Passeig de Gràcia and Barceloneta beach fits well between two ticketed visits. If you only want to reach the centre, the port runs a shuttle bus, the Cruise Bus, between the Adossat Wharf and a stop next to La Rambla; check current times and fares on portdebarcelona.cat.
Sightseeing with your luggage on embarkation or disembarkation day
If your cruise starts or ends in Barcelona, you can visit the city that day. On disembarkation day, we collect you at the terminal. Your suitcases stay in the boot during the visits. Send your afternoon or evening flight time. We plan arrival at El Prat T1 or T2 with time for airport checks.
We collect you from the airport or hotel on boarding day. Tell us which stops you want. We plan your stops around your cruise line’s boarding window. We include time for traffic and terminal checks. For a direct ride, see our cruise port transfers.
Vehicles and group size
For two or three people the Mercedes E-Class is enough. The V-Class takes up to 7 passengers, handy for families or friends sailing on the same ship. Groups of 8 to 19 travel by minibus. Child seats are free if you request them when you book.
We confirm a fixed price before your port call, tolls included, and you pay nothing to request a quote. Cancellation is free up to 24 h before pick-up.
Your driver is not a tour guide
Our drivers are not licensed tour guides. While you visit a monument or museum, your driver stays with the car, then gets you back to the ship on time. If you want a guided visit at the Sagrada Família or Montserrat, book a licensed local guide and we will match the car to the tour times. For full days out from a hotel, see our private day trips with a driver.

FAQ
Cruise shore excursions: frequently asked questions
What if traffic makes us tight on time?
We build traffic margin into the return from the start, and your driver tells you when to leave each visit. If one stop runs long, we shorten the next one rather than put all-aboard time at risk.
Does the driver act as a guide?
No. Our drivers are not licensed tour guides. They drive you, wait for you and bring you back to the ship. If you want a guided visit, book a licensed guide and we adjust the car's timings.
Do I need to buy my own tickets?
Yes. The price covers the vehicle, the driver and tolls. The Sagrada Família and Park Güell sell timed tickets on their official websites; buy them in advance and tell us your slots so we can plan the route.
Can I sightsee on disembarkation day and finish at the airport?
Yes. Your suitcases stay in the boot during the visits and we finish at El Prat T1 or T2. Tell us your flight time and we set the airport arrival with room for check-in.
How many hours should I book?
It depends on the port call and what you want to see. A city route with the Sagrada Família and Park Güell fits into half a day; Montserrat needs longer. Tell us the docking and all-aboard times and we will suggest a plan.
