Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Barcelona city centre: route, journey time and vehicles
From T1 it is about 17 km to Plaça de Catalunya, and about 14 km from T2. Your chauffeur leaves the airport on the B-22 and joins the C-31, which becomes the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes in L'Hospitalet and enters Barcelona at Plaça d'Espanya. Without traffic, the drive to a hotel in the Eixample takes around 25 minutes.
The Gran Via is the most direct way into the Eixample, Plaça de Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter. For Barceloneta, Port Vell, the Olympic Village or Poblenou, the Ronda Litoral (B-10) along the port is usually quicker. For Pedralbes, Sarrià or Sant Gervasi, your chauffeur takes the Ronda de Dalt (B-20) instead. Weekday rush hour can add a good deal of time, but the price we confirm when you book stays the same.
Check your boarding pass to see whether you land at T1 or T2. They are separate buildings, linked by a free shuttle bus, and each has its own arrivals hall. Your flight number tells us the terminal and the actual landing time, so your chauffeur is waiting at the right exit even if the flight runs late.
Many streets in the Gothic Quarter, El Born and much of the Raval are pedestrianised or closed to general traffic. If your hotel or apartment is on one of them, your chauffeur stops at the nearest street a car can reach and helps you unload the cases. In the Eixample, along Diagonal, in Gràcia or in the uptown districts, you get out at the door. If you are heading to a trade fair or congress at Fira Gran Via, the venue is in L'Hospitalet, about 12 km from T1 and on the way into the city, so you can go straight from the plane to the fair. For Sants station or the Montjuïc fairground, your chauffeur leaves the Gran Via at Plaça d'Espanya.
Public transport options are the Aerobús (line A1 from T1, A2 from T2) to Plaça de Catalunya, metro line L9 Sud, which needs a change to reach the centre, and the R2 Nord train, which only leaves from T2. They work well if you travel light. With children or several suitcases, a pre-booked car takes you from the terminal to the door without changing lines.
For business trips, the Mercedes E-Class (3 passengers, 3 suitcases) is the usual choice. The S-Class has more rear legroom; the V-Class takes up to 7 people with their luggage, and the minibus 8 to 19. We also drive the return journey from the city to the airport, with the pick-up time planned around your flight.

FAQ
Transfer to Barcelona city centre: frequently asked questions
Can you drop me on a pedestrian street in the Gothic Quarter or El Born?
Cars cannot enter pedestrian streets. Your chauffeur stops at the nearest street with vehicle access and helps you with your luggage. Give us the exact address when you book and we will tell you where the car will stop.
I don't know whether I land at T1 or T2. Does it matter?
Not for your booking. We check the terminal from your flight number, and your chauffeur waits in the right arrivals hall. The terminal depends on the airline and appears on your boarding pass and on the Aena website.
What are the public transport options?
The Aerobús links T1 (line A1) and T2 (line A2) with Plaça de Catalunya, stopping at Plaça d'Espanya and Universitat. Metro line L9 Sud also serves both terminals but needs a change for the centre, and the R2 Nord train runs from T2 only. Check current timetables and fares on the Aerobús, TMB and Rodalies websites, as they can change.
Do you also drive from the city centre to the airport?
Yes. We collect you from your hotel, home or office. Give us your flight time when you book and we suggest a pick-up time based on expected traffic and the check-in time your airline asks for.
Where will my chauffeur meet me?
In the arrivals hall, at the exit from baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and wait 1 h 15 min free of charge from landing, even if it is delayed. Extra waiting time is charged.
How much does the transfer from Barcelona Airport to Barcelona city centre cost?
It depends on the vehicle, the date and the time. We send you a fixed price before the trip, with tolls and luggage included, and a quote needs no prepayment. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up.
How long does the transfer from Barcelona Airport to Barcelona city centre take?
The journey covers about 16 km and takes roughly 25 min without traffic. Rush hour and high season add time, so allow for this when you choose your pick-up time if you have a flight or sailing to catch.
