Transfer from Barcelona Sants station to Barcelona Airport: route, journey time and vehicles
From Sants station it is about 16 km to T1 and about 14 km to T2. Your chauffeur takes the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes towards L'Hospitalet, continues on the C-31 and reaches T1 on the B-22; T2 has its own access road a few kilometres earlier. Without traffic the drive takes about 20 minutes. We also drive the other way, from the airport to Sants: we track your flight and wait for you in the arrivals hall.
All the platforms at Barcelona Sants are underground, both the high-speed ones (AVE, Ouigo, Iryo and the trains to France) and those for Rodalies commuter and regional trains. Escalators and lifts take you up to the main hall. Adif, the rail infrastructure company, is rebuilding the station, and entrances change as the works progress, so we confirm the exact meeting point when we confirm your booking. If you prefer, your chauffeur waits in the main hall with a name sign and walks you to the car.
If you arrive by train and connect to a flight, send us your train number and scheduled arrival time. We set the pick-up time from it, and if the train runs late, message us on WhatsApp. In the other direction, if you land to catch a high-speed train, leave a margin: there is a luggage check before you go down to those platforms, and Renfe and the other operators close boarding a few minutes before departure.
For a flight, allow for traffic in the metropolitan area. At weekday rush hours, the Gran Via and the C-31 towards El Prat can be slow. On trade fair days at Fira Gran Via, which sits on that same stretch in L'Hospitalet, traffic gets heavier, and MWC week in late February or early March is the busiest of all. We suggest a pick-up time from your flight time, terminal and day of travel, and we use your flight number to check whether you fly from T1 or T2.
By public transport, the R2 Nord Rodalies train runs direct from Sants to T2 in about 20 minutes; for T1 you then take the free shuttle bus between terminals. The metro is another option: line L5 to Collblanc, then line L9 Sud, which stops at both terminals. Check timetables on rodalies.gencat.cat and tmb.cat. These work well if you travel light. With large suitcases, children or a group, your chauffeur collects you at the station and drops you at the departures door of your terminal. The Mercedes E-Class takes 3 passengers and 3 suitcases, the S-Class has more rear legroom, the V-Class carries up to 7 people with luggage, and the minibus 8 to 19.
