Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Tarragona: route, journey time and vehicles
Tarragona is about 85 km from El Prat. We follow the C-31 and then the C-32, which cuts through the Garraf hills in tunnels, passes Sitges and reaches El Vendrell, where we join the AP-7 to Tarragona. Without traffic the drive takes around an hour. The C-32 is a toll road between Castelldefels and El Vendrell, and the toll is included in your price. If the coast road is congested, the inland route on the A-2 and AP-7 through the Penedès is longer in distance but can save time.
Reus Airport is much closer, just a few kilometres from the city, but it has few routes and most are seasonal. Many travellers bound for Tarragona, especially outside summer, fly into El Prat instead. High-speed AVE trains stop at Camp de Tarragona station, about 11 km from the centre; if you arrive by train, we can collect you there as well. By train from El Prat you need at least one change; by car you go from the arrivals hall to your hotel in one vehicle. For the return, we suggest a pick-up time based on your flight and drop you at the right terminal, T1 or T2.
Ancient Tarraco has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. The amphitheatre by the sea, the Roman circus, the Pretori tower, the archaeological walk along the walls and the cathedral are all a few minutes' walk apart, and the Rambla Nova ends at the Balcó del Mediterrani viewpoint. Hotels cluster in the centre around the Rambla and near the Miracle and Arrabassada beaches. Some of the Roman sites lie outside the centre: the Les Ferreres aqueduct, known as the Pont del Diable, is about 4 km north, and the Tower of the Scipios, beside the old Via Augusta, about 6 km towards Barcelona. With an hourly chauffeur you can see both in a morning, as neither is easy to reach on foot.
We also drive business travellers to the Rovira i Virgili University, the petrochemical complex or meetings at the port, and passengers to the cruise terminal on the Moll de Balears. Demand peaks during the Santa Tecla festival, around 23 September, and the human-tower competition, the Concurs de Castells, held every two years at the Tarraco Arena Plaça in early October. If you are travelling then, book early.
The E-Class takes three passengers and three suitcases, and the V-Class seven with their luggage. For conferences, cruise groups or weddings, the minibus has 8 to 19 seats. If your final stop is Salou, Cambrils, PortAventura or a Priorat winery, tell us and we drive you straight there. If you are taking children to PortAventura or the Salou beaches, ask for child seats when you book; they are free of charge.

FAQ
Transfer to Tarragona: frequently asked questions
Do you pick up at Camp de Tarragona station or the cruise terminal?
Yes, at both. The AVE station is about 11 km from central Tarragona, and the cruise terminal is on the port's Moll de Balears. Give us your train number or ship name and expected arrival time, and your chauffeur will be waiting with a name sign.
Should I fly into Barcelona or Reus?
Reus is closer to Tarragona, but it has few routes and many run only in summer. El Prat offers far more destinations and times, and the drive to Tarragona takes around an hour. We run transfers from both airports, so pick whichever flight suits you best.
Can we carry on to Salou, Cambrils or the Priorat?
Yes. Give us the final address and we drive you straight there from the airport, with a stop in Tarragona if you need one. To visit several Priorat wineries in a day, our hourly chauffeur service lets you link the visits together.
Where will my chauffeur meet me?
In the arrivals hall, at the exit from baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and wait 1 h 15 min free of charge from landing, even if it is delayed. Extra waiting time is charged.
How much does the transfer from Barcelona Airport to Tarragona cost?
It depends on the vehicle, the date and the time. We send you a fixed price before the trip, with tolls and luggage included, and a quote needs no prepayment. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up.
How long does the transfer from Barcelona Airport to Tarragona take?
The journey covers about 85 km and takes roughly 1 h without traffic. Rush hour and high season add time, so allow for this when you choose your pick-up time if you have a flight or sailing to catch.
Can I request child seats?
Yes. We provide baby seats, child seats and boosters at no extra cost. Give us each child's age, height and weight when you book.
