MWC Barcelona 2027 transport: private chauffeur to Fira Gran Via

MWC Barcelona 2027 runs from Monday 1 to Thursday 4 March 2027 at Fira Gran Via in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, about 10 km from Barcelona-El Prat airport. The organisers recommend public transport and give every attendee a free travel pass. A private chauffeur is worth booking when you arrive with luggage or demo kit, run meetings away from the venue, or host clients and a team.

MWC 2027 dates, opening hours and venue

These are the hours the official website lists for the 2027 edition. The organisers can change them, so check again before you fix your schedule.

Fira de Barcelona describes Gran Via as eight halls linked by an internal walkway, with 240,000 m² of gross exhibition space. If you have meetings outside, add the walk from your hall to the exit.

Getting to Fira Gran Via

By public transport

Every MWC attendee gets a free travel pass. It covers unlimited journeys on buses, the metro and FGC trains in Zone 1, plus one trip to or from the airport. The most direct links are these:

• Metro L9 Sud to Fira or Europa|Fira. The line starts at airport terminals T1 and T2, so you can reach the show without going through the city centre.
• FGC trains from Plaça d'Espanya to Europa|Fira. Any FGC train from that station stops there.
• Metro L10 Sud to Foc, closer to the North Access.
• TMB buses H12, V1, 46, 65 and 79.

The MWC website warns that Barcelona is in the middle of a major transport works programme, with delays, detours and congestion on the roads. It recommends public transport over driving yourself.

With a private chauffeur

Private cars can drop off and collect passengers on Carrer de Salvador Espriu, near the MWC Entrance. From the airport, the usual route is the C-31 motorway and Gran Via through L'Hospitalet. The table gives road distances and free-flow driving times, calculated from OpenStreetMap data:

During congress week, journeys around opening time and when the halls close take much longer than these figures. For a 9:00 meeting at the venue, leave your hotel with time to spare.

Where to stay during MWC

Your hotel area sets how long you spend on the road each day:

• Gran Via de L'Hospitalet and Plaça d'Europa. You are next to the venue and can walk to some entrances.
• Plaça d'Espanya and Sants. Direct FGC or metro to the show, or about 10 minutes by car without traffic.
• Eixample, Passeig de Gràcia and Diagonal. Plenty of hotels and restaurants, about 7 km from Fira Gran Via.
• Diagonal Mar and Poblenou. On the far side of the city, about 12 km away.
• Castelldefels and Sitges. Seaside options when the city is full or you prefer to stay by the sea. Sitges is over 30 km away, and a car saves you the change between train and metro.

MWC's official accommodation partner is bnetwork. The organisers warn that fake hotel offers circulate using MWC logos. If you book elsewhere, check who you are dealing with and guarantee the room by credit card rather than bank transfer.

When a private chauffeur makes sense at MWC

If you travel alone with a backpack and only go between hotel and venue, the metro on your free pass is quick and easy. A chauffeur is worth it in these cases:

• You arrive with suitcases, a portable stand or demo equipment. Your driver meets you in arrivals with a name sign and handles the bags.
• You have meetings in hotels, offices in the 22@ district or restaurants, and return to the halls in between.
• You host clients or executives and want them collected at a set time and taken to dinner.
• You are a team of four to seven. A Mercedes V-Class carries everyone in one vehicle.
• You stay in Sitges or Castelldefels and finish late. Ask us to confirm availability for late returns before you book.

In Spain, a chauffeur-driven car runs under a VTC licence, the country's licensed private-hire category. Every VTC journey must be booked in advance, so you cannot hail one outside the halls. Book your rides before you fly.

Hourly chauffeur service for show days

A standard transfer takes you from one point to another at a fixed price. At hotels, offices and other addresses your driver waits 15 minutes as a courtesy, and extra waiting is charged. At MWC it is hard to predict when your last meeting will end, and 15 minutes rarely covers the gap.

With an hourly chauffeur, you book a block of time and the car stays at your disposal. Your driver drops you on Salvador Espriu, waits while you are in the halls and collects you when you message. If you have a lunch in the Eixample, the driver takes you there and back to the show. Your laptop, samples or the suitcase for your flight home can stay in the car.

When to book and what to send us

MWC26 drew nearly 105,000 attendees, according to the organisers. Many arrive when the halls open and leave when they close, so requests for chauffeur-driven cars cluster in the same time slots. The earlier you book, the easier it is to get the vehicle you want at the time you need it.

A quote is free and needs no prepayment. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pick-up, so you can book as soon as your flights and hotel are confirmed. To get a price, send us:
